A.J Wells & Sons Ltd have been official suppliers of street signs and cladding for Transport for London for almost 30 years.

Street Sign Projects:

• A total of 90 enameled Theatreland signs were produced by A.J Wells as part of a rebranding program within the Theatreland district of London.
• Street and road signs across London, including the City of Westminster, Southbank, Liverpool Street, Paddington and East London areas.
• In April 1969, The Beatles came together to record their final album Abbey Road at the Abbey Road Studios in London and who can forget the iconic image of the group crossing the road outside the studio. Today fans from across the globe visit the famous street, stopping traffic as they have their picture taken on the zebra crossing and around the Abbey Road street sign that we manufacture.

A.J Wells fabricate steel tray panels before enameling and screen-printing the new signage. Vitreous enamel street signage offers excellent durability and low maintenance that cannot be matched when using powder coated or vinyl signage.

They are produced in vitreous enamel, a traditional process that involves fusing glass particles to sheet metal by firing it at temperatures in excess of 800°C. The finish has a unique depth and vibrance and has been specified by local authorities for many years. Colourfast and weather-proof with exceptional durability, enamel signs are ideal for indoors or outdoors and require very little maintenance (which we can also supply).

The Company
AJ Wells & Sons Ltd was founded in 1972 and is a privately owned, family controlled, British company. Based on the Isle of Wight the factory comprises of a Vitreous Enamelling Plant and a precision metal workshop featuring CNC controlled Press Brakes, Robotic Welders and a state of the art Laser Profiler. The range of applications for enamel is vast and goes beyond just signage and cladding. A.J Wells & Sons Ltd have enamelled everything from baths and cookers to large scale art installations.
