Falcon Bridge Underpass

Over five intense months we manufactured and installed more than 600 artwork panels along with entrance fascias, benches and planters to transform Falcon Bridge underpass. Commissioned by Wandsworth Council in association with Network Rail and delivered as part of the London Festival of Architecture, the project turns a dark and damp route into a place that welcomes the community.

Working to GPAD’s concept, our team developed a full enamel package from colour and artwork control through to metalwork, fixings and installation. The vitreous enamel panels line the underpass to create a continuous visual story that celebrates the local area. Entrance fascias, bespoke planters and benches complete the scheme and give a coherent finish from threshold to thoroughfare.

Vitreous enamel was chosen for its long service life in tough environments. The fired glass surface is colour fast and non porous which makes it easy to clean and highly resistant to graffiti. Panels are engineered for impact resistance and weathering, with crisp edges and robust fixings that keep the lines true over time.

Everything was fabricated in our Isle of Wight facility where we manage milling, spray and furnace under one roof. That control helped us meet a tight programme and maintain consistent colour and gloss across hundreds of pieces. Our installation team coordinated closely with the wider project partners, including FM Conway Ltd, to deliver a safe and efficient build on a busy route.

The unveiling brought local residents together to celebrate the change. What was once an uninviting cut through is now a brighter link that feels safer, more cared for and rooted in its neighbourhood. Falcon Bridge shows how durable materials and careful detailing can lift everyday journeys and support pride of place.
