AJ Wells are experienced manufacturers of exterior wayfinding signage solutions. Each project starts with extensive research to develop the optimum system for wayfinding in the client’s location. A range of information including street signs and printed maps are used to convey clear, concise information that is accessible to everyone.

Past projects include:

Legibility London – a pedestrian wayfinding system to help people walk and navigate around London, that is integrated with other transport systems including the London Underground. We manufactured the monolith signage throughout London on behalf of trueform.

Irish Coastal Causeway – a complete bespoke signage scheme installed along the Causeway Coastal route from Benone to Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland. 17 different locations along the coast and 26 different styles of sign with 86 signs required in total.

Exmoor Interpretation – With the backing of The National Lottery, A.J Wells re-signed Exmoor National Park with interpretation panels for Langham Engine House. We developed the interpretation and wayfinding system as well as manufacturing and installing the signage.

Wayfinding Materials

Vitreous enamel is a perfect wayfinding material due to its durability and weather resistance. It is chemical and abrasion resistant and far less vulnerable to vandalism than other materials. The expected lifespan is at least four times that of any other material and maintenance is minimal, meaning it is a cost-effective solution. The elements that are used to produce enamel are fully recyclable making it an environmentally friendly signage solution.

Block screen-printing, enamel photographic transfer technology, as well as illumination, can all be used to create colour rich and accurate signage. Our in-house design team and colour matching specialists are able to embrace your organisation’s branding. Vitreous enamel benefits from being colour-fast meaning colours, text and imagery will never fade.
