Norton Folgate
We partnered with Universal Design Studio on the interiors for Norton Folgate in Spitalfields. Our brief was to create enamel furniture that felt authentic to the place and could effortlessly serve hard working commercial spaces. The result is a family of handcrafted enamel tables that bring colour, craft and durability to the top floor meeting areas.
The project drew on the Art Deco story of the site and the area’s long link to glass and enamelled goods. We developed a refined enamel mix in a warm terracotta tone with a soft gloss finish. Tessellating tops interlock to form a modular meeting table and echo the pattern of streets seen from above. The sculptural composition uses interlocking geometric forms that sit comfortably within the architecture.
Every surface is fired for a colour fast, chip resistant finish. Edges and junctions are engineered for strength and clean lines, with the tables designed to be moved or reused as the spaces evolve.
All enamel work was made on the Isle of Wight in our dedicated facility, which is the largest enamelling factory in the UK. We control milling, spray and furnace in house which gives consistent quality across each panel. The build quality supports long service life with low maintenance and easy cleaning. It is a practical expression of our approach to sustainable manufacture.
Norton Folgate brings design, craft and local story together. We are proud to have played a part in a project that respects heritage and supports future ready workplaces.
