WonderLab at London’s Science Museum

A.J Wells & Sons were commissioned to produce illustrative vitreous enamel interpretation panels for the WonderLab interactive gallery at London’s Science Museum. This area is an immersive, playground-like, experience divided up into zones to include; Light, Sound, Forces, Maths, Electricity and Magnetism. The interactive experience is designed to ignite curiosity, fuel the imagination, and inspire you to view the world in new and exciting ways.

In addition to the square and rectangular panels, A.J Wells fabricated a circular panel for the display. Our high-tech automated laser cutting machine has no trouble with complicated shapes allowing artists and designers to fully realise their creations. Likewise, our experienced design team can apply graphics with accuracy, while colour matching any specific brand elements.

Colour matching of vitreous enamel is a highly skilled task that is carried out manually by our adept operatives to achieve the best match between your Pantone or Ral reference and our vitreous enamel sample. Our experienced team utilise the latest equipment to carry out a series of tests to ensure the match is exact as possible.

Before work was carried out, our site survey team went to make an assessment, investigate the details and advise on the appropriate fixings. The information was then recorded in the form of an updated schedule, metalwork CAD, and artwork layout drawings which were then provided to the client to gain initial approval.
