Refurbished TFL Underground Signage

A.J Wells & Sons recently refurbished and repurposed an iconic decommissioned roundel for the newly updated offices at the London Transport Museum. We love refurbishing signs, as it aligns with our company-wide approach to sustainability and our commitments to Net Zero 2050.

Refurbishing old signs is a very cost-effective way to extend their lifespan, and our innovative approach involves stripping them down to the frame, examining the frame and trims, improving the decoration, and installing new illumination and acrylic faces. By doing this, we were able to restore these 17-year-old signs to their former glory. It’s so satisfying to see the end result, as these four signs now look as good as they did when they were first made.

Finally, did you know?!

Did you know that the London Underground roundel is more recognised in the UK than the Olympic rings – Iconic!

Roundels continue to be the logo and visual for many key services provided across the city, with the London Bus and TFL roundels also scoring highly in the 2000 person survey conducted in the UK
